What is the quality of service of Planet Early Childhood Learning Centre?
The centre runs educational ‘Pre-School’ and ‘Transition to School’ programs that comply with the Australian Children’s Education + Care Quality Authority (ACECQA), the National Quality Framework, and the Early Years Learning Framework.
What are Planet’s opening hours?
We are open 7:30am - 5:30pm Mondays to Fridays, 50 weeks of the year. Planet has no fixed ‘drop-off’ or ‘pick-up times’, and the educators ensure that only authorised caregivers / emergency contacts are able collect your child at the end of the day.
It is my child’s first formal childcare experience, am I able to make sure that my child is settling in OK?
|
Yes, Planet recognises that each child will respond to care differently depending on their age, personality and past experience of separation from their parents / carers.
Usually, we would encourage an ‘open doors’ policy in the orientation process, as it may take up to six weeks for a child to adjust easily. Please feel free to phone Planet at any time to see how your child has settled. |
Can I be reassured my child will receive the attention they need to excel in their early childhood learning experience?
Yes, for this reason Planet is a 36 place service, for children aged between 2 - 6 years, in order to make sure that the quality of your child’s learning experience is exceedingly personalised.
How do I know that my child is receiving an individualised learning experience that caters to their personality / interests ?
Depending on your child’s individualistic interests and needs, the educational experience willbe altered to enrich and stimulate your child.
Activities such as painting, play-dough, puzzles, blocks, construction, movement, language, stories, poetry, dramatic play, sand and water/sensory play are offered on a daily basis, and your child has the ability to choose which learning experience they participate in, and whether this is done individually or as part of a group. Your child’s progress is documented in OWNA, ultimately ensuring that your child is given the opportunity to engage in a variety of educational experiences. Each child’s documentation along with the ‘Learning Story’ are available for parents / carers to read, and we welcome suggestions and contributions to our program. |

What methods of communication with the centre are available for me as a parent / carer?
The OWNA app is used by Management and Educators to provide families with updates on their children's learning, and also houses all of our policies and most important documents. Depending on the parent’s / carer’s signed consent, the educators are also able to provide Photo-Documentation of your child’s experience at Planet Early Childhood Learning Centre on a day-to-day basis through the OWNA app. Additionally, a Planet Newsletter is circulated on a regular basis, and the Community-Notice Board and Planet Messages may be viewed in the centre foyer.
What is my child required to bring to Planet Early Childhood Learning Centre on a day-to-day basis?
|
Children are expected to wear comfortable playing clothes that are sun-protective, and easy for the children to undo when using the bathroom. All items / toys belonging to the child must be labelled. If your child requires a dummy / bottle etc., please label and provide such items to the educators who will cater to your child’s needs. |
Do I have to provide meals for my child?
No, Planet provides both Morning and Afternoon Tea and a Hot Lunch that adheres to the Australian Dietary Guidelines and prepared daily on the premises.
The daily menu is available to parents / carers on OWNA. We will make every effort to cater to your child’s dietary needs in relation to culture, dietary choices, allergies and medical conditions, however parents are able to provide alternate meal options.

What is the cost of placing my child under Planet Early Childhood Learning Centre’s care?
Our pricing is as follows; 2 year olds $125 per weekday, 3 - 6 year olds $115 per weekday. The Child Care Subsidy is available to families. Please visit the Human Department of Services Child Care Subsidy page for more information.
My child has specific cultural / religious / learning needs that must be catered to, can I ensure that Planet will accommodate for this?
Yes, if parents / carers have any cultural and/or religious observances that they would like the educators to respect and uphold whilst their child in our care, please advise us so that we may practice them.
Planet aims to provide care for children with additional, intellectual, physical and/or emotional needs. We have access to a variety of additional needs units and various Government funded agencies that offer free consultations and treatments.
