Educational Program

Our Philosophy

We believe that children, parents and families should be made to feel welcome, supported and respected. We aim to establish high quality care with educational programs based on children’s individual needs by working in partnership with the parents, as the child’s main educators. We believe that children learn through play and encourage the children’s learning by providing stimulating play environments. By extending children’s experiences, skills and knowledge, we aim to foster each child’s social, emotional, language, physical and intellectual development. We value the importance of Language and Communication (including Literacy and Numeracy) and social and emotional development. Planet consistently demonstrates the best practice in the provision of the education of children in our care, in accordance with the Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority, National Quality Framework and the Early Years Learning Framework.

Learn Through Play

Planet provides a unique educational experience for the children in our community. We adopt a hands-on approach to discovering and 'giving back' the world around us. Our Educators facilitate daily excursions with the children to see places and people in our community. Planet also engages in the 'Transition to School' program with Coledale School, where our older children are given the most authentic induction to Primary School as possible.  Activities  include utilising the school's: Library, the Garden, the Whale Watching platform, the Eco Frog ponds and we even have our own vegetable patch on the school grounds.

Educators

At Planet we work as a team to educate your child. Please meet our enthusiastic and qualified educators.

Book an Orientation Visit

We encourage parents and carers to bring their child to the centre to participate in orientation activities prior to their starting date.
Through this orientation process, your child will familiarise themselves with the educators, environment and other children. If we are your child’s first formal childcare experience, we advise that they engage in a shorter day than usual, and then gradually build up to the length of time that you will require care. We invite families to participate in this orientation process, on weekdays between 11.00am - 11.30am by appointment only.
